For Francophone speakers in Quebec, if they visited Paris, they would note a difference in the way French is spoken?

It is the other way round – Parisians would identify the Quebecois accent.

Absolutely. It isn’t a difference in stressing the vowel sounds, it’s the whole package that sounds different. Something like the difference between Spanish in Spain, where it is very precise (except for the Andalusian accent) and the Spanish in Cuba, which can only be described as ‘juicy’.

The one I always think is funny is the different pronunication of “oui” In Parisian french we say oui like “we”, in Quebec they say “way”
I sometimes have trouble understanding Quebecois french, but even more trouble with french from New Brunswick which tends to have alot of slang, or colloquialisms.

Quebec French comes from the Brittany and Normandy areas of France, and was then isolated from France for the past 350 years or so. Both languages changed, but in different directions. So, not only is the accent different, some of the words are different to. Quebec preserves words now lost in France, and vice versa.

Some have told me they have few troubles communicating, but I have heard others speak of difficulties, especially in “joual” the more slangy version of Quebec French.

It would sort of like someone from Texas listening to a Shakespeare play given by people from the “wrong” side of downtown Glasgow. They might just not get all of it!

I answered a similar question not too long ago: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Apm0c.hCFkSuhpN.Mjij5czty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100212215820AAoVyIo&show=7#profile-info-YbPOb7cTaa

Châteauguay is incorrect in suggesting that people from France can detect a québécois accent, but not the other way around. I can assure you from personal experience that it works both ways, as these things generally do.

Yes Quebecois would definitely note a difference, yet Quebecois are accustomed to hearing French (France) accent because of artist, movies, etc. and the opposite is also true

    mostly the letter A..

while in Quebec, Quebecois tends to pronounce “A” in words such as La-bas (over there) as if it was almost an “O”, in France they actually pronounce it the way it is taught.
